Tuesday 1-31-12 Grace

Hello everyone, had a good workout with Johnny this morning.  Just got done my salad with turkey for lunch.  For some reason the salads this week just isn't cutting it.  You know how some times you say, boy that salad was good and other times not so good.  This week is a not so good week but I am sticking with them. Well we're more than half way through the weekend.  I did a 3 mile walk and a 1 mile jog this morning.  I have to say I  really had to make myself do it, one of those mornings.  But I am determined to break this next decade by the end of our Advance Class session.  And I have a one week vaca before the end of this also so it will be really hard to stay on track and stay focused on my end result.  Grace

Wow, I saw something today that I don't think I've ever seen....definition in my fore arms.  It still surprises me on how my body is changing since I've been doing weight training with Johnny and nutrition class with Pearla. Hey everyone.  Yesterday weigh in wasn't to bad.  Did gain a 1/2 pound.  Oh well.  Had a lot of stress this last week.  Life happens.  The good news is we had company for 3 days and I did not eat out NOT even one of those days. YEAH, YEAH,YEAH!!!
Plus I am working out with Johnny as my trainer.  Wow,  I did 60 sit-ups.  Pat myself on the back.  A year ago I was not doing sit-ups.  Nope, heck I was not hardly even bending.  So hats off, I salute Johnny and Pearla.  And Herbalife products.  I love the whole package deal...nutrition, exercise, Herbalife.  Dory, is one happy healthy person.

I'm so frustrated this week. I have had such struggles trying to stay
on track. I am not going to be much help to my team and for that I
apologize. What frustrates me most is that I can't seem to be BIGGER
than the crazy way my days are. I plan, I am aware, I want it and yet
I still loose control of my time, my focus and energies. How do you
stay ahead of the craziness and keep the dedication needed to see the
results? I know you all are doing it and I am so glad for you all. I
am looking to find how to make this work consistently in my world.
Consistency for me is missing. As we share the great, I need to share
my not so great also. I am sure I will leave tomorrow night feeling
great again, (I always do) I am looking forward to all your successes
to feed off and Pearla and Johnny's wisdom to snap me back.

I have been thinking this week has been so bad for me as far as
routine and feeling like I am doing what is right. I just read a
passage in a book that says, essentially, once you label your day
(week in this case) as bad, you dismiss and throw away perfectly good
or salvageable hours (days). So, I am going to change my thinking and
keep trying to salvage my week.
I am also counting on the Pat's to salvage what is now a tie score and
kick some Raven ASS.

a routine from the on demand choices. Trying to motivate myself this

Sunday 1-22-12 - Grace

Good morning everyone! Kelly I know just how you feel.  I break my weight lose in decades of pounds and I am struggling to break another decade.  I have been working on this decade for months and months, at times feel I'm never going to break it.  The only thing that keeps me going when I don't see the scale move is that my clothes are fitting me better.  I don't think we're asking for much just a little sign to keep us going.  I hear Johnny saying "you're getting healthier, that's all that matters, just keep going".  Without that encouragement I probably would have given up.  I haven't lost a huge amount of weight but have gone from a size 18 pants to a size 12.  And I know it's shifting, toning, strengthening and shrinking.  So the whole program is working.  We just need to stay focused and on track.  Grace

Saturday 1/21 - Kelly

Woo!! It was much easier (and cheaper) to run on the sidewalks in the nice California weather so I didn't think I could jog for much time after being on a 4 month hiatus, but I surprised myself.  Yesterday I read a blog entry by a girl who does roller derby on endurance training that helped me push through, this passage totally did it for me:

"I also love endurance because I think it's dramatic.  Most people would disagree with me on this point and instead use the word 'boring.'  I guess the way I think about it is that there comes a moment when you don't feel you can continue, but you do.  And then that point comes again... but you keep going.  The mental battle prevails in distance events.  It's the ability to weigh your body's wants versus it's needs and to be able to discern the difference between when you're just hurting and when you're injured.  If you can find the edge or that sweet spot where you're pushing at exactly the right intensity then you can ride it all day and it feels amazing." http://derbybusiness.blogspot.com/

Friday 1/20 - Kelly

Hi everyone!  After training with Pearla yesterday morning and boot camp last night, I'm feeling ready for the weekend!  I plan to get a gym membership to get my endurance up and help me reach my goals.  Laura you are so right, sometimes we have weeks when we feel so great and our clothes fit differently, but our weight doesn't go down.  My body has changed so much in the past couple of weeks, my muscles are growing and workouts are becoming easier but I weigh the same.  I have to repeat to myself that it's important to feel healthy and happy, the pounds will drop eventually.  Have a great Friday!

am going to need to focus this week and stay organized. I know we all
have great support around us so I will be leaning on you all a bit to

Weds 1-18-12

Well, here it is week #2 weigh in for the advance class.  I have to admit this "Challenge" is working for me, it brings out the competitiveness in me.  I had a good week but that doesn't always show on the scale for me so I am always anxious to get weighed in, like I said even though I had a good week.  Sometimes I feel like I will have a good loss and zingo I have a gain, go figure.  It's not easy being a woman trying to lose weight.  Oh well the scale will tell.  Good luck everyone! Turkey Pot Pie - Dory

Tuesday January 17th, 2012
Has anyone tried Pearla's Turkey Pot Pie?  I needed to keep my carb down a little.  So I tried this without the crust.  OH MY GOSH!!!! This is SOooo YUMMY!!!.  Try it you will not be sorry, it is one of my favorite meals.  I also made it with chicken instead of turkey.  It is easy.  Make it the night before to have for a quick warm up for the next day. ~Dory

You are so right Henry. I was just talking about the whole carb
cravings Friday with a co worker. When I allow the wrong carbs, I
crave more garbage and it makes me crazy. When I am on plan and eat on
schedule, I feel better and don't crave the carbs. It is a balancing
act that I don't have mastered yet but each time I make a good change
that I have made part of my lifestyle now, I feel better for it.

Tracking - Henry


Good Morning All,
I have had certain revelations regarding weight loss recently. Tracking is the most important aspect of a good program. The minute I think I know what I am doing and stop tracking, small decisions I make end up with more carbs in my diet. When that happens my body
craves more and more carbs and I listen regardless of my intentions. I have asked myself why would someone like Pearla who knows so much about nutrition continue to track on a daily basis?  I know realize that the decisions you make every day make a difference and that tracking allows you to find the obvious. I hope this helps someone because it has taken me a couple of years to face this reality.

choices. Those situations will continue to be a big challenge for me
so I need to keep reminding myself what MY focus is and find workable
solutions for those times I am not the one making the choices.

Woo hoo Pats!!  Made a batch of Pearla's White Chicken Chili yesterday.  Ahhh, the aroma's that filled the kitchen.  It was DELISH! Trying to throw in a little goal for myself by making more of Pearla's recipes this week.  Muffins are in the oven and will be making Pearla's Pasta Roll-ups later today.  Going for a nice jog today too.  Good luck to everyone to stay on track. ride from Concord to the Seacoast. Does gripping the wheel white

Wow! I really will have to say I am totally shocked.  Okay let's be real IT IS OVER THE TOP!!!!
Last year 2011, when I met Pearla and she told me, "Hey girl you are not going to need to exercise 5 hours or more a day to lose weight."
I believed her...hmm... NOooo not even for a moment.  I told her if I don't lose it on my time giving her 9 months for me to lose 5 pounds, I am out of here and you will NEVER see me again.. I have been there tried everything.  I don't sweat or lose.  Oh, yes I know how to eat right. Again not...
Okay everyone here my shocker. 
YES ME, drum roll please...lost 22 pounds in under 7 months. Only exercising 30 minutes 5 days a weeks, with strengthen 3 days a week for 1 hour.  That is 5 1/2 hours total a week not a day.  My thanks goes out to...

Monday 1/9 ~ Laura

Planning on balance and stretching tonight.....looking forward to it.  I joined "The Biggest Looser" at work today also.  Double whammys!  At the end of the day, I am making changes for me and that is what is important. I feel better having a focus back and since nothing I am wearing today fits well (think sausage) I need this again.  I was so frustrated this morning when I put on a pair of pants I hadn't worn in a month or so and they are tight again.  Instead of eating because I was in a mood, which is what tends to happen to me, I wore them anyway and will know ALL DAY why I need to keep my focus.  I will not put on that pair of "fat" pants and keep going as I was.  I am on a mission!!!!!

Almost midway 1st week - Grace

Well group we are almost mid way through our first challenge week.  We need to stay focused and get our workouts in.  I got off the couch and did cardio and a jog yesterday afternoon.  You can do it to.  I have to admit I don't think I missed anything getting away from the TV.  Keep a positive attitude and lets have some good numbers Wednesday night!  We all can do it.

The Numbers Don't Lie- Grace Rogers 1/7/12

Well, I went for my first physical since I have been attending Pearls's nutrition classes and weight training with Johnny.  Everything is down my weight, my size, my cholesterol, my blood pressure and my sugar.  Now what is up is my confidence, my positive attitude, my outlook on life and my patience. 
I still have a ways to go but I know I am on the right track.  Thank you Pearla and Johnny

It feels good to have a plan again. This is my daily struggle. If I
keep myself organized (this was my good habit) and keep focused on my
goal and plan daily, I know I will be successful. Each day I am
making time for MY PLAN that is about my wellness goal, whatever that
includes. If being organized is so helpful to my success, why is being
UNORGANIZED my makeup? 2012 Is my year to make this a priority for
me.

My husband and I joined the Advance Class at Transformation Wellness Center after taking the Beginners Class.  We left there with so much excitement for this 6-week program.  We immediately went home and made changes for this next journey towards wellness.  Looking forward to this "Weight Lose Challenge", bring it on!
