11/2 - Friday from Pearla

WOW what an amazing start to the day!  Got up and did my cardio and shoulder workout.  Then onto take Johnny & Jimmy's Suspension Class.  Eating has been great!  Started out with a protein smoothy with kale, 1/6th of banana, 1/2 apple, and pea protein shake.  YUMMY!  Then a Grass Fed T-Bone Steak with Eggs and sauce made with fresh mushrooms, kale, onions and drippings from steak.  Full and happy!  Thinking of my partners in crime, Kelly & Laura!

Beginning Paleo Diet - 11/2/12

Time to blog again!

In the advanced class we have some people with interesting dietary issues and are reading about the benefits of the Paleo diet.  We are incorporating what we are learning as we go along, and this week my two goals, (tracking meals and a gallon of water every day), will help to better understand what is happening and what may trigger certain things. 

Hopefully our studies can help us to understand our bodies and how we can be healthy and happy :)

Hello everyone.....Sorry that I have not been blogging.  No excuses but I have been sicker than a dog for 3 days......Today was the first day that I was able to hold anything down.  Thankfully I didn't land myself in the hospital....NOT FUN!  I am hoping to make it to class tomorrow.....mostly out of curiosity for what my weight is.  Can't imagine what I could have lost but I am sure I did...Not that I was trying OR that being sick is the way to do it.  Hoping that tomorrow is even better than today and that I get to come see all of your smiling faces....Looking forward to a restart to the week!

Thursday 6/14 - Kelly

Good Morning :)

I love that we are doing vision boards during this advanced class session.  In the past nine months I left a job, friends, a city and lifestyle I had fallen in love with to move 3000 miles back home to my family, a new job, and an engagement with one of my oldest and dearest friends.  It's been quite a whirlwind and I'm coming to terms with the fact that it's how I live - I make spontaneous crazy decisions without a clear goal and, not surprisingly, without clear results. With all of these big changes, I'm excited to document them and concentrate on setting goals.  I have some small ones for right now: rehab my knee with Pearla, pump up the guns and beat my fiance at arm wrestling, figure out a wedding venue by the end of summer, but where do I see myself in two years?  Five years?  I never really think that far ahead.  I've decided to start small and set a goal for two years from now, my 30th birthday.  By next Wednesday's class, I will have a two year goal to which I am going to be faithful and have a plan to document my progress so I am held accountable.

Brittany, Kelly and Pearla....It is so nice to just sit and talk about whatever comes up on Wednesday nights.  Thank you ladies!  Brittany, I just read your last blog....keep your chin up!  Thank you for being honest about the challenges you face, you are right, we ALL face them!  It is nice to know that I am not the only one who struggles from one day to the next.  But like we said tonight...you can't move backward and fix "mistakes"....you have to move forward and just do better the next time.
Kelly - I didn't forget about helping you tape your knee.....I just didn't think to talk to you about it tonight!

Monday - Sarah

Happy Monday....a fair week so far.  Muffins made...need to make protien bars tomorrow/or next day.  Successful grocery trip today, I am excited for some grapefruit tomorrow:)  But the highlight of the day...personally, is the little pick me up I just got from Pearla when I checked my email....THANK YOU PEARLA!  Most days are very rewarding, but some you just try to survive, to reset the clock for the next day.....the last couple of days have felt like that for me.  Just that little reminder that someone else is thinking about you with a little uplifting message can totally refocus your head.  So for that, Thank You Pearla.....Love ya!

Blog 6/1

Hello,
What a wonderful way to bring in June. After having a lot of success with Eating Clean for twelve weeks I followed this success with a little rut. I started into some old habits and I realized that I was having my old mood swings and irritability. I heard one time that "Nothing tastes better than feeling healthy" and I truly believe that. I know that I am not going to make perfect choices pertaining to eating all of the time but I do know that when I do make the right choices I feel 100% better. It is funny, I was not going to take nutrition this time because of my small hiccup and now I feel like it was the best decision I ever made. I bit the bullet, stepped on the scale (but I didn't look) and got right back to the program. The funny thing is it only takes one day for my feelings to change. I have been trying to pinpoint which days I was having the most success and those were the days when I ate a large lunch (6 oz protein, sweet potato, and green veg). This left me somewhat satisfied the rest of the day. I also realized that I had started lessening my water intake. When I drink all of my water I also do not feel hungry. So with all that said I have had 2 successful days, headed into the weekend. Happy Birthday to Henry and Kelly! Remember you said only 1 case. Sarah you are doing awesome. It is so nice to see you every week and you are going to feel amazing come September. Pearla and Johnny thank you too!

PS. I did not write this to pat myself on the back for 2 good days, I wrote this to let people know that there is someone and many people who know what it is like to lose a little control and it is OK. It is embarrassing to slip up and face the scale (or let Pearla look and you just say tell me next week.) but we have all been there. The best thing is going back. It is great going in week after week and having the losses the true test is getting back on when you feel like you have failed. I am not disciplined enough yet to do it alone but I don't need to. That is what the PJ& K community is for. To the beginners it is a hard first couple of weeks and I faithfully looked on this page to see that others were blogging about.

Beautiful day !! what an inspiring morning to get active and maintain our fitness goals

Had a great ride on Willie yesterday after work. He is going through a growth spurt – just turned 4. His body is filling out so we need to be patient with him.

Stumbling a bit as well. That means I can’t ask him to for a lot under saddle … BUT we make lemonade out of lemons and we practiced our walk and staying focused. It was a great session!!!

Hi all

Friday is here – but what a week it has been. Certainly a week to challenge my focus on healthy eating –

Putting Sheba down  yesterday was awful – but we had no choice

In the mornings I am like the pied  piper with dogs trailing behind me – tails wagging, out to the barn to take care of horses.

This morning the parade was shorter and one less dog doing her “happy dance”.

 

Today I will walk at lunch and I am riding after work. I have incorporated some stretching in my warm up and hip openers in the saddle – very good strengthening exercises and also helps me get my mind in the right place before I ask anything of my horse –

Thursday 5/17 - Kelly

Hello everyone!!  Scott made delicious sweet potato "muffins" with grated zucchini, mushrooms, and ground turkey that doubled as a couple of extremely convenient meals today.  I need to ask him how he did it and pass the recipe along, they are great brain food in the morning and the spices he used pairs nicely with arugula.  Enjoy this lovely afternoon!!

I woke up to my older Border collie having issues staying on all four – she has been declining for six months now and she must have had a stroke overnight.

Happy Friday Everyone!
I saw the most awesome thing today...I have to share it with you all so you can hopefully have a mental picture that will make you all smile too:)  I am driving to a hair appt this morning, sitting at a red light, jamming to a good song....when up next to me pulls a motorcycle with a sidecar on it.  In the sidecar is a DOG.....wait it gets better!  The dog....Irish setter....is wearing a down vest, a hunting hat with the ear flaps down and tied under his chin AND GOGGLES!!!! (He was also in some type of a doggie seatbelt/harness).  The goggles even had flames on the sides.  That has made me smile and laugh anytime I pictured it in my head all day!  Anyway, I hope that makes at least one of you smile:)
Going to make Ginger scallops for dinner tonight.....can hardly wait, they are SO good!  If you haven't tried that recipe yet, I would HIGHLY recommend it! :)

Yeah… It’s All Good team for getting in all our scores this week

Packing for NY trip and really stressing over being able to have my 6 meals a day. No oven or microwave when we are hiking or riding so trying to pack foods that can be eaten cold and still provide my protein and low carb(after 3) etc

Back in the day, I would pack sandwiches – but now I need to get creative and do it without the bread and deli meats

Any suggestions would be welcome!!!

These next few weeks are CRAZY busy with stuff and I began to think about it all while on the elliptical machine this morning…which was causing me to stress. How I am going to get it all done??? So, instead of focusing on that, I began to focus more on my workout and guess what? I forgot that I was stressed. (at least for the moment!)

Hi team(s)

So did Weight loss wonders have full participation in handing in scores for class last night? Hope so.

I did not make my  weight loss goal for last week – so this week I will push harder to make up the difference

I can make excuses as to why – but that will NOT get me closer to goal post… hard work will  J

This weekend I am going to NY to visit sister and she is a bad  influence. Doesn’t need to watch her weight so can eat anything she wants (not accounting for the health factor but just the calories) I am packing all my pre-measured portions and meals so I can stay on track. She is supportive of my lifestyle change so that helps – I just hope I can stay strong and avoid the cheesecake when presented at dessert time  -

My mantra is: I  will NOT cheat. I will lose 2 lbs this  week!!

Good Morning. Nothing much new over here. I actually considered waking up this morning at 4 because my stomach was growling so much :) Fell back to sleep and then had a protein muffin with 32 oz. of water. Pearla is right, sometimes I forget to use the water as a filling technique but it totally works. I hope everyone has a great day!

Stay strong Kim.....I feel your pain.  I was in a store today and saw a man carrying a big bottle of water and a large bag of Fritos.....I wanted to tackle him! :) BUT, as much as I wanted to, I did neither tackle him OR go get a bag of my own.  So it was a win day:)  No risk of getting arrested or eating something I would hate myself for after!
On other notes.....looking forward to tomorrow and seeing how we did...as a group but also as a TEAM.  Hoping we have another good turn out for attendance so we can take credit for all of our points/hard work.

Good Morning.
It has been a while since I have blogged and truthfully I think it is because my motivation/ self control over the past couple of weeks has not been very good. I have been giving into cravings a lot more and not following the plan like I know that I should. I am writing this in hopes that I can get myself focused again. I have been exercising religiously so I think that that is helping with maintenance but I am not doing what I need to do to lose. So with that said it is a new day and a new hour. I am focusing myself and I am going to try journaling to see if I can see any patterns with my cravings (time of day, day of the week, etc.). We will see. Hope everyone is doing well.

Hey gang....what a day!  Glorious sunshine:)  Got out for a bit today...actually took Liam over to the farm to look at the cows.  I think we were just minutes late from watching a calf be born.....the momma was definitely cleaning off a new baby and there was lots of grossness hanging out of the momma!  Sorry for the TMI, but, if you saw it you would say the same thing:)  ANYWHOOSEY.....hope everyone had a great day, I did.  Also just throwing it out there again in case some of you missed the offer in my other blog...I have a practically brand new Elliptical machine that we do not have the room to hang on to anymore...it is free to anyone interested and willing to come pick it up.  If i don't get any takers it is going to the side of the road with a free sign on it!

Yeah for the sun today! Beware of clean eating recipes. Not the
chicken barley stew which came out good. I also printed a chicken
quesadilla recipe because it looked like something everyone would like
and it froze well. I'll bring it in on Wednesday. It seems pretty
deceptive in servings, serving size, and nutrition. Needless to say I
will not be making it. Keep rocking teammates!

Thank goodness it is Friday – another brain crunching week at work is almost over –

Now for post mortem meetings and process improvement projects…but at least the hours and pace will be somewhat human like    J

Working out this morning on my own – Jillian Michaels’ DVD is getting dusted off – I have to say – I can now motivate myself and work harder when I workout –which is the point, isn’t it??? Why do it if you are not going to give it 100%????

But before Pearla’s classes, I did not push myself – and that is why I never got the best results -

When I do workout on my own these days – pearla and Shannon are in my head… pushing me

That said, I will miss bootcamp Saturday morning because of a horse related commitment – but I will still workout and look forward to seeing the gang on Monday night with Shannon   J

Good Evening~
Today was a day....not bad, not good.....trying to prepare for my little mans big second B-day party on Sat.  Got a lot done toward that but not much else done for myself.  Tomorrow is a new day:)  On the brighter side, I am still finding everyday easier to eat regularly and well, as well as get in my Gallon of water....so all in all, a good day!

thursday - day one week 3

Hi gang

Thanks everyone who handed in score sheets last night – next week – let’s hope for 100% submission for Weight Loss wonders team (team#2)

IF we all participate- at least we have a chance at the game…

 

With this cold and damp weather – comfort food is on my mind –and comfort food was my downfall before I changed my eating habits.

I promised my husband meatballs and spaghetti tonight – Thursday is our night to eat dinner together –

I did not want pasta because of the carbs, so I made spaghetti squash for myself –

Boy was it GOOD!

Turkey meatballs, homemade tomato marinara sauce and spaghetti squash… yummy

Who needs the pasta???

There is always a way to invent tasty dishes with the BETTER/Healthier food choices… thanks Pearla, for your constant inspiration

Missed bootcamp this week but worked out by myself today and my goal is to work out every day -

…. Work is getting back to normal – 50 hour week – so I expect to get back  into my routine starting Monday.

I hope you all had a great weekend.  My family did a wonderful job helping me this weekend.  We went to a little fair in Manchester and to Livingston Park for a walk around the pond and then Autumn made an awesome spinach salad for us.  Hopefully I will hear good news at my Ortho appointment tomorrow and can set goals to be back in the swing of things.  Can't wait!!

So I thought I was doing good until I tried on dresses the other day. rachel was dying from laughter. Everything looked like a carpet bag on me. But after trying on the dress I'm currently wearing at a function, I think I was going for the wrong sizes. Who knew? One size smaller.

Happy Saturday Everyone!  Today was awesome!.....it started with Pearla's bootcamp!  It kicked my butt a little but, it needed to:)  It felt good and I amazed myself at some of the things my pregnant body accomplished that I wouldn't have ordinarily done.  What a great way to start the day though...wish i could do that every morning.  But it could have also had something to do with the fact that my husband took care of our little man and I had a "mommy hour" this morning...that was pretty cool too:)
Good day....on my 3rd jug of water....and now for a family trip to the grocery store (which should be interesting).  Hope everyone else has also had a stellar day!

Hi all

I missed pearla’s  bootcamp this morning – woke up at 8:15 and since I need to take care of dogs and horses first – and it takes a ½ hour to get to fremont from here – no way could I make it on time for 9am class. (I envy those who live close by on days like this)

Worked til midnight and it kicked my butt – mentally – usually I can jump out of bed the next morning – but not this time….ouch

 

Plan B: go to gym and work out there – just because I missed bootcamp does not mean I get a day off from cardio and weights – I count on this workout every Saturday to get me motivated for the weekend – barn chores, housekeeping (yuck!) and life  J

Be strong – weightloss wonders gang , keep score and see you all next class

looks like we got the big smackdown from Team #2 (FitnFab) last night.

But it did not have to happen that way - Pearla explained that we all need to record our points every week to get the credit for team totals. That can be done virtually (email) or in person at class time.

In other words, we lost because not all team members sent in their weekly scores. so we lost big time!!!

I know better than anyone how life can get in the way - not enough hours in one day to get it all "done" - believe me I struggle every day to fit everything in and keep work/life balance...

Can you make it a point to phone in, email in, or hand in your points for next week? we need to have a chance to win this! every member of the team#2 is important and required to be engaged in the game  :)

Wed 4/25 - Kelly

Hi guys!  I apologize to my team for not keeping up with blogging.  It looks like everyone is doing well!  I'm adjusting to new easy-on-the-knee cardio, but can't wait until I can get back into the groove I was in before. I'm very excited to fix it and move on!  I had to cut back on my food intake since not as much fuel is needed at the moment.  This weekend I made gluten/dairy/soy free meatballs, basically just ground turkey with onions and jalapenos, it was really convenient for a quick meal every couple of hours and help me get more meals in during the weekend.  I'm looking forward to seeing everyone tonight!!

Lots of walking these past two days plus hitting the fitness room. We are tired. Getting in all of our water but I have to confess not making good food choices 100% of the time. Didn't bring our game sheets so can't add up our points.

Bring on the sunshine!!!  Sorry to everyone for my remarks yesterday.......i just had nothing in the tank, but I hope I didn't bring anyone else down! 
I am loving the recipes this week.....Pearla's Protein bars are an awesome pick me up....the Oatmeal Muffins......my noodle free lasagna......I love to eat!  Even when I am not pregnant:)  Thankfully, I have some new tools in my tool belt to eat awesome food and know that it is really nutritious! Knowing that I am really benefiting from what I am eating instead of just eating to put something in my stomach feels good.  I hope that everyone else is having a good day too.  Game on tomorrow....for us AND the Bruins!!  Bring it! :)

had a great workout with shannon last night and then went home to roast chicken (no skin) - Pearla and Brenda raise some tasty chickens - and SOOO good for you - it was delish!

trying to work on my good habit this week - and was able to go 2 days straight on breaking bad one (no eating after 9PM) - working really long days and late nights this week and next so that one is more of a challenge than it seems :)

Well, I have to admit I didn't make it to bootcamp this morning.  I guess working such manual labor for the whole weekend took more of a toll on me then I thought.  But at least I was moving and shaking the whole weekend to burn calories.  Best to everyone.

Rainy days and Mondays.......booo!  Sad to say, I am not bringing much to the table today folks.  Hoping to feel a little more rejuvinated after a little cat nap.  Yesterday was such a stellar day....and today not so much.  I find it amazing how much difference a little sunshine can make in the way your day goes.  SORRY....not trying to be a Debbie Downer.....so on that note, we'll see you in a couple of days!  Gonna go try to be a little more fun to be around after a little power nap!  Cheers:)

Oh my goodness why does rain make people so tired and hungry? Doing all that I can to not snack. School vacation always makes my eating routine a little funky because I am not in my schedule. Started my Monday morning out with Pearla at Boot camp. Love walking in in the morning to the smell of fresh muffins. It reminds me of the Dunkin Donuts "time to make the donuts" commercial. They are totally a staple in my eating plan. Thanks Sarah for the well wishes on Marpe, he is still needle free, I think the rain has helped though.

Sat 4/21 - Sarah

Hope everyone had a wonderful day!  Lots of fun outside today for me and my fam.....Drank more than my gallon today....totally didn't think it was possible but, it was pretty easy being out in the heat all day!  I am proud of my self for resisting birthday cake and ice cream at my niece's b-day party....that was my big achievement for the day other than the gallon+ of water.  So, it was a good day.  I am looking forward to a low key day tomorrow to regroup and perhaps try a new recipe.....rain showers in the forecast will help:)  Doing better on my goals....hoping everyone else is having good luck, am anxious to see how things add up this week!  Good night all!

Fri 4/20 - Sarah

Oh boy, did I find a new AMAZING recipe!  Noodle-free lasagna.....I would be happy to share the recipe with anyone interested!  SO delicious!  A little time consuming to cut all the veggies and pre-cook them in a skillet but, WELL worth it!  Instead of noodles it is full of sliced eggplant, Zucchini, and portabella  mushrooms.  
I have not thought of any good names for our team yet...any ideas out there?

friday - made it through a tough week and menu hell

Hello gang!

Never realized how reliant I was on my own packed meals /measured –portioned etc. I really had a challenge this week with dinner meetings every night  and menu hell. Not good choices out there when it comes to restaurant dining. But taking Pearla’s advice I chose grilled chicken and salad – although on a few occasions that was not even on the menu- so I asked the wait staff and chef to accommodate me  J

The challenge to me was not ordering a tasty favorite but finding something on the menu that was a healthy choice …

I am looking forward to getting back to my exercise /cardio routine and bootcamp Saturday morning with Shannon.

Congratulations everyone on getting through this first week!  I had a nice workout this morning with Pearla.  Thank you so much for being patient and helping with my knee challenge!  I'm adding to my good habits by remembering to take my thyroid pill on time every day and being more aware of my EFA intake, I had some labs done yesterday that could be better and I would love to change my results.  I hope you all have a great afternoon :)

Hello, it is Thursday. My favorite day of the week! My goal for the day is to not let my dog (Marpe) play with his porcupine friend. I started my day out with some plain greek yogurt with fresh strawberries and a packet of stevia. I then put it in the freezer for 20 minutes and now it is one of my favorite treats :) For 30 years I swore I hated yogurt and since Pearla fed it to us in a nutrition class it is one of my favorite meals :) Congratulations to everyone that gave up caffeinated beverages this past week. It is such a hard habit to break. I quit drinking soda (maybe a 2-liter bottle a day) in January and the headache the first 3 days was horrific but on a brighter note I do not even think about it anymore. Thank you everyone for the support in this lifestyle change and have a great day.

Still doing pretty well. Not sure when I'll get my cardio in today.
I'm going to need some advice for thursday. I'm going to be with my
Young Marines Unit at the funeral for Police Chief Michael Maloney.
We muster at the Hampton airfield and march to Winnecunnet High
School. It's pretty much an all day event. Not sure how food and
water are going to pan out. Could live on bars all day I guess but
that doesn't sound nutrionally sound. Plus I would think the trek up
route 1 to the high school will be lengthy with not opportunity for
bathrooms so lots of water may not be an option. And would it be
appropriate to eat or drink while marching in a funeral procession? I
don;t think so. Help! - Kim

Hi everyone!  This first week has definitely been a challenge.  My family had a fun weekend that ended with an awesome Winnie the Pooh themed birthday party.  Weekends are always tough, but throw in a kid's birthday and it's a recipe for disaster.  I'm regrouping today and am determined to have a successful week.  I hope everyone has a great day!

Monday's blog

I've decided to take a tip from a contestant on the biggest loser. I
have written a small "20" on my wrist so I can see what my 6 week goal
is. With it constantly in front of me, I will have a motivator on
hand when I have some food choices in front of me, when I'm tired and
don't feel like working out, or when I get distracted from my goal.
It's working out so far because I'm very hungry and am not scheduled
to eat until 11:30 and have been able to pass up all the crap that is
in our snack/soda area.
Also, because I couldn't face the elliptical after laying awake since
2:30 am this morning and needed to get to work early today I'll be
hitting it when I get home before going to Pearla's. I'm sure it will
be uncomfortably hot and it will be the last thing I want to do when I
get home, but I'll look at the "20" and do it with a smile. Well,
maybe not with a smile.

So my Saturday is over and usually the weekends are hard. The structure of my workdays helps a lot with keeping my food log going and sticking with the plan.  I'm happy to say I pretty much stuck to it. Made protein pancakes this morning and forgot how fast and easy they were.  I was running around a lot but packed food. The crecent rolls from the oven smell really good, but not enough to tempt me.  I'm a little behind in water but all in all I'd say it's been a good day.  Hope everyone is doing well!

Hey all. Last night my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to go out to a new place I've been wanting to try out Buffalo Wild Wings. I am glad to say I stuck to my word and said that I couldn't go because my bad habit was no take out. I like Kim's quote from yesterday! That is exactly how I've been feeling. Congratulations!!  We are almost done with the first day :)  Kayla and I had a pretty awesome time punching things during our training with Pearla this morning.  It's always nice to get out some aggression at the end of the week!  Good luck to everyone going into the weekend.  We can do this!!

Kim's Dinner

After my workout with Pearla, which is ALWAYS great, I had to go to
Hannaford to get something to cook for dinner. Normally I would go for
the not so good easy thing like pasta, and perhaps along the way pick
up something small from the bakery. Just a little thing that wouldn't
derail me too much. I'm happy to say I just picked up a little shrimp
and sauteed it up with some veggies. It was still quick and easy, but
I feel much better about the choice. And no Dessert!!! And yes, this
means I don't have my weekly plan done. Good luck to everyone,

Thursday 04/12/2012 - Kayla

What a great day so far! Last night after class my boyfriend and I went grocery shopping and we bought nothing bad. All fresh produce and lean meats. I was going to buy some hummus but I know my self and even though it is a healthy dip I know I can't just eat one serving so I had it in my cart and decided to put it back.  Worked out with Pearla and Kelly this morning at 6:30 AM.  Have been on track with my eating today. Clean meals every 2-3 hours. I'm half way through my gallon of water and it feels great! Hope everyone else is having a great day!

Bad Habit - Brittany

So I have given thought to my bad habit of binging. It is truly once a week at most so it could almost be considered a cheat meal. I then realized that my real bad habit is that I weigh myself daily sometimes twice a day. It messes with my head too so I think that I should change my bad habit to No weighing during the week. I couldn't do it before when I made it a goal but I think I can do it if I feel like I will be penalized.

So I've dicovered that
1. I'm hungry!, but at about the right time when I should be which is
a good thing.
2. Getting back to drinking the water and not soda is good, but not
when my glutes are "killing" me from Pearla's butt-kicking the last
two workouts! :-)
So I'm going to remember a recent quote I read somewhere...
"If you're tired of starting over again, STOP QUITTING!" So I pledge
to myself that this is the last time I'm going to start over!

I still don't know if I am doing this right but I wanted to say Good Morning and I hope that everyone has a great day...I also decided to change my bad habit. I will no longer weigh myself on a daily basis. My other one really only effected me a few times a month so it really wasn't much to give up. I do however have a very bad habit of weighing myself everyday and I was reminded of this when my eyes opened this morning and I was compelled to rush to the scale. I had made this a weekly goal before and was unable to achieve it but I think that it is a bad habit that needs to be broken because it can really mess with we mentally. Again I hope you all have a great day and I am really excited to be a part of this group.

Sunday 2-26-12

Well, here I go bragging again...but I can't help it.  Being a post menopause woman who "struggles" to lose every single pound and has success I think I have earned bragging rights.  I went shopping yesterday and was in a store that had such good customer service (yes there are still stores out there with customer service) that the sales woman suggested I try their jeans with a sweater I had on.  I told her what size jeans I had on and she brought me 4 pairs to try on.  I looked at the size before I put them on and said....grrr she brought me the wrong size....it was a size smaller than what I told her.  But I put them on and tada! they fit.  The size was a size "10".  I just couldn't believe it.  Less than a year ago and prior to Pearla's nutrition classes and Johnny's weight training I was a size 18.  I told the sales woman, "You made my day, I never would have chosen that size!"  It's moments like that that keep me on track.  You can do it too. I (Dory) lost 4 1/4 inches off my body. I love Herbalife products and how they are making me healthy. I was able to hold 15 pound dumb bells in each hand (30 pounds total) bend and almost touch my toes. It has been almost 20 yrs. since my back injury. I am getting my life back. YEAH!!!!!~Dory

Happy Valentines Day to everyone!  Had a great workout with Johnny today.  Legs....ugh!!  Tomorrow is our final weigh in for this session...can you believe it?  Well, not me.  I am hoping for a lose even though I was on vacation last week.  So lets end the session on a positive note.  Lose we can do it!

Hello everyone,  back from vacation.  Not sure where the week went.  Didn't workout as much as I wanted but I did eat well and held my weight.  But time will tell come Wednesday's weigh in.  Getting back into the swing of things and preparing for the upcoming week.  It's all about preparation.  Glad to be back into my routine.

Saturday - 2/11. Laura

Today I went back to my bad habit. I am owning it and moving on. I
wish everyday would be perfect, but this is real life. I am still
learning to not be derailed from my goals by each pebble in the road I
step on. It was a blip, and I got back on track. (I will walk extra
on the treadmill tonight ). I know I have made progress as I now
encounter less pebbles which come fewer and further between and I feel
so in control if regaining control. We have the power and I intend to
keep using it!!

Wednesday 2/8 - Kelly

Hello!  I hope everyone has had a great week despite the outcome of the game on Sunday.  Kayla and I were just realizing that we are nearing the end of class.  I'm about 3 - 5 lbs shy from my goal weight (I'll find out tonight, yikes), so I really need to stay focused.  Can't wait to see everyone!!

Pats are just about to start and I thought I would take a minute to
catch up on blogs. Glad I did! All good, right and makes you want to
keep going. I am going to try the oatmeal recipe and YES Kelly, you
are getting stronger. I could see it last week. You look awesome!
Getting to any 6am workout I feel is a great accomplishment. I always
have to remind myself how amazing I feel the rest of the day and how
productive I have been while others are still sleeping. One small step
each day in a better direction is a step closer to making it happen.

1/3 cup dry oatmeal
2/3 cup water
1/4 cup raspberries
2 Tablespoons Herbalife Chocolate Protein Drink
!/2 cup soy milk (can use whatever milk)
1/3 cup dry oatmeal made with water.  Yes I cook it .lol
Then had a 1/4 cup raspberries.
Mix chocolate protein drink with a 1/2 cup soy milk.  You can use real milk. Yes I am eating this and it taste yummy.  Like a chocolate raspberry oatmeal cookie. 
I feel like I am reaching for the cookie dough. lol
Hmmm maybe if I add a little peanut butter next time. ~Dory

Good Morning America had a small bit on the news this morning about
how bad sugar is for you and how so much of it is hidden in what we
eat daily that we are not really aware. They would like it taxed for
foods with high amounts. Makes you aware when they show granola as a
high sugar item of how much we take "healthy" labels at face value.

Friday Feb 3 - Kelly

Happy Friday!!  Holy endorphins!  Every week that I make it to 6 AM suspension training on Wednesday, my mood definitely brightens.  Changes are still happening every day.  I feel like I've built up enough muscles to actually feel the burn where I'm supposed to.  When I used to do crunches and jack knives, I would feel it in my back or legs first.  I would feel so weak when I couldn't lift my butt off the floor, but sticking with it really improves your form.  The little accomplishments really add up and we should pat ourselves on the back (and then do one more rep!)  I hope everyone does something nice for themselves this weekend because we are all doing awesome!!

Felt a bit defeated (okay pissed) the scale on Wed was not friendly. (I dont really know how unfriendly, just know it was) I know I need to really put on a full court press with the workouts so that is my plan this week.  I am going to take time this weekend  to get together a book (like Fletchers) and make a plan to be aware.  Being aware of getting back to the basics and basic choices. Like all of us in class, we are all so busy that second nature is not quite second nature yet. I am avoiding situations this weekend that I know will derail me and I am really good with it.  Derail my eating and derail my mind set.  I will get on top of my struggle and reach my goal!!!  Have a great weekend all and GO PATS!!!!

Hello everyone, had a good workout with Johnny this morning.  Just got done my salad with turkey for lunch.  For some reason the salads this week just isn't cutting it.  You know how some times you say, boy that salad was good and other times not so good.  This week is a not so good week but I am sticking with them. Well we're more than half way through the weekend.  I did a 3 mile walk and a 1 mile jog this morning.  I have to say I  really had to make myself do it, one of those mornings.  But I am determined to break this next decade by the end of our Advance Class session.  And I have a one week vaca before the end of this also so it will be really hard to stay on track and stay focused on my end result.  Grace

Hey everyone.  Yesterday weigh in wasn't to bad.  Did gain a 1/2 pound.  Oh well.  Had a lot of stress this last week.  Life happens.  The good news is we had company for 3 days and I did not eat out NOT even one of those days. YEAH, YEAH,YEAH!!!
Plus I am working out with Johnny as my trainer.  Wow,  I did 60 sit-ups.  Pat myself on the back.  A year ago I was not doing sit-ups.  Nope, heck I was not hardly even bending.  So hats off, I salute Johnny and Pearla.  And Herbalife products.  I love the whole package deal...nutrition, exercise, Herbalife.  Dory, is one happy healthy person.

I'm so frustrated this week. I have had such struggles trying to stay
on track. I am not going to be much help to my team and for that I
apologize. What frustrates me most is that I can't seem to be BIGGER
than the crazy way my days are. I plan, I am aware, I want it and yet
I still loose control of my time, my focus and energies. How do you
stay ahead of the craziness and keep the dedication needed to see the
results? I know you all are doing it and I am so glad for you all. I
am looking to find how to make this work consistently in my world.
Consistency for me is missing. As we share the great, I need to share
my not so great also. I am sure I will leave tomorrow night feeling
great again, (I always do) I am looking forward to all your successes
to feed off and Pearla and Johnny's wisdom to snap me back.

I have been thinking this week has been so bad for me as far as
routine and feeling like I am doing what is right. I just read a
passage in a book that says, essentially, once you label your day
(week in this case) as bad, you dismiss and throw away perfectly good
or salvageable hours (days). So, I am going to change my thinking and
keep trying to salvage my week.
I am also counting on the Pat's to salvage what is now a tie score and
kick some Raven ASS.

Sunday 1-22-12 - Grace

Good morning everyone! Kelly I know just how you feel.  I break my weight lose in decades of pounds and I am struggling to break another decade.  I have been working on this decade for months and months, at times feel I'm never going to break it.  The only thing that keeps me going when I don't see the scale move is that my clothes are fitting me better.  I don't think we're asking for much just a little sign to keep us going.  I hear Johnny saying "you're getting healthier, that's all that matters, just keep going".  Without that encouragement I probably would have given up.  I haven't lost a huge amount of weight but have gone from a size 18 pants to a size 12.  And I know it's shifting, toning, strengthening and shrinking.  So the whole program is working.  We just need to stay focused and on track.  Grace
